Our Story
Cambridge Skaters was founded in 2016 by a group of inline skating enthusiasts who met up after work to skate along the Cambridgeshire Busway. They became known as the Busway Skaters and numbers grew by word of mouth and by meeting others skaters on the Busway. Over the next few years, they had a few dozen skaters, from all walks of life and countries around the world.
In 2020, Cambridge, and the world, felt the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. The resulting lockdown meant that skaters had the opportunity to skate empty streets, but importantly, see and meet new skaters, including a number of ice skaters who made the transition from ice to wheels! This led to a rapid expansion in the group with new friendship bonds and styles of skating.
We are a community of enthusiasts sharing a common passion ... we love to skate!

With over
770 skaters, we have events for everyone, including busway skates, street skates, skate dances and scratching metal in the skateparks.
As of 29th March 2021, we're running events as an organised sports organisation.
